Salary
The starting salary for Fellows is the same as that for all other beginning teachers in the district. Starting teachers, with no previous classroom experience, typically earn $34,059 in their first year, depending on their education level and related coursework. Fellows become salaried employees of the district when all teachers report to work at the start of the school year; teachers normally receive their first pay check during the first month of teaching.

For those Fellows with graduate degrees in addition to their undergraduate degree, starting salary could be as much as $38,125 or more.  For more details on the salary for teachers in MNPS, visit the salary scale on the human resources website.

Benefits
As employees of the district, Fellows are eligible for the same comprehensive benefits as all district teachers, including health, dental, life insurance, and long term disability insurance. Visit the human resources website for more information on specific benefits.

Loan Forgiveness
Fellows with Stafford, Perkins, and Eisenhower loans may be eligible for loan deferment or forgiveness related to teaching in high need schools and/or high need subjects. Fellows need to contact their lenders to determine eligibility.
